St. Bernard Manor Opens

St. Bernard Manor, an elderly housing building designed by HMS Architects, held its grand opening on August 20. The opening was presided by Archbishop Aymond who blessed the building. In attendance were retired Archbishop Hughes, St Bernard Parish President Peralta, and others. The new building which has 82 units is a replacement project completed with FEMA funding for a structure that was damaged beyond repair during hurricane Katrina. The new St. Bernard Manor is yet another example of the recovery of the greater New Orleans area. The building provides much needed elderly housing for the New Orleans region. HMS Architects is also currently completing another elderly housing project for the Archdiocese of New Orleans in Metairie, which is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2014.
